White Ward Price
MARKET NOTE: WHITE WARD
Updated 2026-10-13
White Ward from Alpha Edition is a Reserved List Uncommon with the full pedigree of first-edition Magic collecting. Alpha cards carry a distinct black-bordered, rounded-corner aesthetic that separates them from every subsequent printing, and the scarcity at the Uncommon level is higher than many casual observers expect: Uncommons in Alpha were printed in smaller sheets than Commons but still represent a meaningful fraction of the total print run. Wards as a cycle have limited competitive application, but White Ward holds collector value because Alpha set completionists require it. The Reserved List protection means no legal reprint can ever exist, which places a structural floor under pricing. Alpha condition standards are strict: the large black border shows wear quickly, and Near Mint Alpha copies are significantly scarcer than their Beta equivalents. Price is supported primarily by set completionists and vintage enthusiasts rather than format demand.
