Serra Avenger in the Champs Promo treatment is a limited-distribution version of a white creature with flying and vigilance, distributed at state and regional championship events before the current competitive infrastructure existed. Champs Promos were distributed at State Championships held by Wizards of the Coast in the mid-2000s, giving them event-stamped scarcity from narrow initial distribution across a much smaller organized play network. Serra Avenger sees occasional Legacy play in white weenie and Hatebear strategies, and the Champs version appeals to players who want the event-stamped copy of a historically relevant card. Both the seven and thirty day price trends are positive. Promo versions of competitively relevant cards with genuine event scarcity tend to appreciate gradually as the original supply ages and collector demand accumulates. The Champs Promo program no longer exists in its original form, which permanently caps the supply of this specific version.
