Pact of Negation from Future Sight is one of Legacy and Modern's most operationally unusual counterspells. It counters a target spell for free at instant speed, with a punishing upkeep trigger that kills you next turn if you have not paid five mana. This design means the card is almost exclusively used in decks that win the turn they cast it, specifically Storm and combo builds in Legacy and Modern where an opponent's counter spell is the only obstacle remaining. Future Sight cards were printed with a distinctive preview frame design meant to suggest how future Magic cards might look, which gives them visual novelty beyond their function. The 30-day data shows measured upward movement consistent with gradual collector and player acquisition rather than speculative interest. Pact of Negation has not been reprinted into wide availability in the original Future Sight frame, keeping demand for original copies intact among combo players and collectors who value the preview frame aesthetic.
