MARKET NOTE: RAVAGES OF WAR
Updated 2026-07-13
Ravages of War from Portal Three Kingdoms is the functional reprint of Armageddon in a set that was never widely distributed outside of Asian markets. Portal Three Kingdoms was released in 1999 primarily for the Asian market, resulting in extremely limited English-language supply. The card destroys all lands, a symmetrical effect that certain Commander and Legacy control decks deploy as a game-ending reset when ahead on board. English copies have long carried significant premiums over Chinese and Japanese copies due to scarcity and Western collector demand. The 30-day price movement reflects a modest upward trend consistent with the card's historical pattern of gradual appreciation. Portal Three Kingdoms has no expected reprint pathway given the licensing complexity of the Three Kingdoms intellectual property. That structural supply constraint is the primary long-term thesis for collectors holding copies of the set's staples.
