Brain Freeze from Scourge is a two-mana instant with one of the most powerful scaling effects in Legacy: the Storm mechanic means it copies itself once for each spell cast before it that turn, enabling kills that mill out an opponent's entire library in a single combo turn. It is a core win condition in Legacy Storm and was a staple in Vintage combo decks during the peak Scourge era. Scourge had a relatively small print run compared to current Standard sets, and Brain Freeze has not been reprinted in widely available format-legal products given its storm interaction. The 30-day price gain reflects steady accumulation from Legacy players and Storm archetype collectors. The card is uncommon, which means the original print allocation per box was high relative to rares, but surviving near-mint copies from 2003 are genuinely limited. Reprint risk in a future Legacy product is the primary downside to monitor.
