MARKET NOTE: THE DECK OF MANY THINGS

Updated 2026-09-25

The Deck of Many Things from the AFR Ampersand Promos occupies a niche as the promotional variant of one of Adventures in the Forgotten Realms' most flavorful mythics. The card creates a randomized selection of effects drawn from its namesake artifact, appealing to players who enjoy chaotic but potentially game-altering plays. Ampersand promos were distributed through limited promotional channels, making them harder to locate than booster-pulled copies. This version carries a measurable premium over standard printings, justified by its relative scarcity and the novelty of the D&D crossover branding. In Commander, the card sees consistent play in decks that benefit from chaos elements or artifact synergies, providing a stable demand floor independent of format shifts. Long-term, promo mythics from licensed sets tend to hold value better than base-set counterparts when the theme resonates with the broader gaming community.
