Unmask from Mercadian Masques is a free discard spell that has carved out a durable niche in Legacy and Vintage as a zero-mana disruption piece with serious play implications. The card allows its controller to reveal a black card from hand and discard it to force the opponent to discard a nonland card at no mana cost, making it relevant in storm decks and other combo strategies where protecting a key turn-zero matters. Mercadian Masques had one of the smallest effective print runs of the Masques block era, and Unmask has not been reprinted into Standard or Modern sets given its power level, which has kept supply thin. No reprints are protected by the Reserved List, so reprint risk exists in principle, but Wizards has not chosen to reprint it in a widely accessible format. Price has held flat in the tracked periods. Available near-mint copies are limited; spread is wide on most marketplace listings.
