Ornithopter Price
MARKET NOTE: ORNITHOPTER
Updated 2026-07-06
Ornithopter from Summer Magic is among the rarest single cards in all of Magic, originating from a print run so troubled that Wizards of the Coast recalled and destroyed most copies before retail distribution. Summer Magic, also known as Edgar, was printed in 1994 with misadjusted color settings that gave cards a distinctive cyan-heavy appearance distinguishable from the regular Revised run they were meant to replace. The surviving copies reached the market through distributor error rather than intentional release, creating an extremely limited and historically documented supply. Ornithopter is a zero-mana artifact creature reprinted across nearly every Magic set, which means the Summer Magic version is valued entirely on its edition scarcity rather than gameplay utility. Authenticating Summer Magic copies requires careful examination of the specific color shift. Graded population counts are extremely thin, and each authenticated specimen trades as a near-unique auction event.
